Special Education – June 2017

June 6 & 7 – Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
Great Prairie AEA will offer two summer opportunities for school teams who want to be trained in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (aka CPI) training.  Participants will be trained in a safe, non-harmful response system that may be used to address the safety needs of students during times of escalated behaviors or crisis.   Schools are highly encouraged to sends teams of people to the training as the model works best when implemented by a team.  The first session is on June 6 & 7 and registration is available in the GPAEA Professional Development Catalog or via the link at http://bit.ly/2oeJCA8.  The second session will be offered on August 10 & 11 with a registration link coming soon.  You may find more information about this course by downloading the PDF: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training

If your district and/or building would like to receive this training during the school year, then you will want to consider our Flex option.  For $30 per participant, your staff can complete 2-3 hours of online modules prior to one of our Nonviolent Crisis Intervention trainers coming onsite to provide a 4-hour follow-up.  As this training is best completed as a building team, you will be asked to have a minimum of 8 staff members participating in the Flex option.  The onsite date will be scheduled at the convenience of your district schedule and the availability of the trainer.  If you are interested in this option for next school year, please contact your Regional Director.
