Iowa Science Standards Module 2: Phenomena-driven Instruction and Coherent Storylines Summer Opportunities:

*Prerequisite for Module 2:  Module 1 -OR- Supporting Iowa Science Standards for Administrators and Instructional Coaches Part 1.

  • June 8-9, 2017 – Burlington GPAEA office (link to register)
  • June 12-13, 2017 – Ottumwa GPAEA office (link to register)
  • June 19-20, 2017 – Ottumwa GPAEA office (primarily reserved for Albia CSD- limited number of openings-link to register)

For teachers new to the district or who haven’t completed Iowa Science Standards Module 1: This is now housed on AEA PD Online.  It takes about 4-6 hours to complete this abbreviated version of the module. Instructions for registering with the link:

  • Register for an AEA PD Online account (if you don’t already have one).   Then you will be able to sign up for the AEA Online PD course: Iowa’s Science Standards: Overview. ( Note:  Teachers get this confused with other online registrations like our GPAEA MyLearning Plan or the Heartland system that is used for the Mandatory Reporter Training, etc.  This is a different system and registration.  The course is free for currently employed Iowa teachers and administrators.

The dates for Module 3:  Gathering and Using Evidence of Student Learning can be found here.  Dates for Science Networks are listed at the bottom.  Registration links will be available in August.  Districts wanting in-district support must enter their requests through the GPAEA PD Service Request System
